PACIFY REDBLUE. 900mmx900mm. 2024
PACIFY is an experiential installation by Harry Holcombe-James, where audiences are invited to lay beneath a vast suspended form and surrender to its slow, hypnotic movement. The animated environment of light and motion lulls viewers into a state of deep calm, opening a space for contemplation and altered perception. This work continues Harry’s ongoing practice in technologically mediated meditations.
Across his practice, Holcombe-James creates immersive environments and then uses their documentation as material for new works. These secondary artworks act as both evidence and transformation: they preserve the ephemeral qualities of the live experience while generating new symbolic registers. In this way, the documentation is not simply archival but becomes a creative gesture that extends the life and meaning of the original installation.
PACIFY REDBLUE was created through a multiple-exposure photograph of the experience as its lighting changed through out the experience. Through these documentations and abstractions the work aims to elicit feelings akin to the source material.
PACIFY REDBLUE was shortlisted for the Henry Jones Emerging Art Prize 2025.
