As you see and understand yourself within the changing and evolving environment, SELF creates a perceptual feedback loop.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> <\/span><\/p><p>Using the tradition of camera feedback, I have taken this loop and created a series of images that capture a snapshot of the SELF experience. By placing the object of the viewer between the camera and its feedback loop screen, SELF LOOP emulates the distorted effects our minds conjure while within SELF. These images will interrogate the transient nature of these lived experiences, and what can come from further reflection on a still image that lingers rather than fades from moment to portraiture. My subject’s rendering is a process of serendipity. The goal while shooting was to capture George’s representation at its most instinctual level. My subject’s mind does not sit still and the beauty of George begins with his mind. Uniqueness becomes physical as the body expresses the workings of his mind. The genius that is George comes from an inability to sit still. What I created was a sensory experience that would separate awareness of where you are now, to somewhere else within the mind.<\/span><br \/><span style="font-size: 10pt;">The sensory stimulation is beamed directly to where it counts; ears, eyes and touch; where he lays. It was a shared moment of me watching him as the ten minutes passed, wondering where he was finding himself, what sort of journey he was having. I was desperate to know what he thought. With ten seconds to go, he speaks up, “how much more is there?” “Just a few more seconds”, I answer. This is a portrait of my Dad being my Dad.
